Orlando Pirates new coach Josef Zinnbauer has for the first time waxed lyrical on Malawian striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango’s awesome form in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Ahead of the Buccaneers encounter against Highlands Park yesterday at Orlando Stadium, Sowetan Live quoted him as saying he is thrilled by the 27-year-old’s form and he wondered what Mhango drinks to have so much energy.

Mhango: I am hopeful I will achieve that feat

The Flames striker has so far scored seven goals, including a hat-trick and a brace, in the four games Zinnbauer has been in charge and, by press time, he was the PSL leading scorer with 11 goals in 16 games, a goal ahead of second leading scorer Amazulu FC’s Bongi Ntuli.

“And yeah, Gabadinho Mhango now; I don’t know what he drinks the whole week, or what he does the whole week [to produce such energy]. But he works hard against the ball,” he was quoted as saying. “The whole team works well against the ball and that’s our success at the moment.”

On his part, Mhango said he is happy that the coach and the Pirates supporters appreciate his hard work. He said credit should go to his teammates for encouraging him.

He added that he is determined to achieve his mission of scoring more than 15 league goals for the Buccaneers this season.

“It is my dream to reach my target of above 15 goals this season and I am hopeful I will achieve that feat,” he said.
