Gabadinho won a double when he was named player of the tournament and Golden Boot Award winner after inspiring Bullets to win the Presidential Cup.

He put the icing on the cake by scoring his eighth goal of the competition in the final showdown against Moyale Barracks on Saturday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Gabadinho vowed to keep his foot down on the accelerator pedal.

“I will not get carried away with my current form. If anything, I will work even harder to achieve more. My ambition is to translate my form to the national team. With the help of the coaches, fans and above all, my fellow players, I am sure I can make it.

“I am happy to have won the Presidential Cup Golden Boot Award, but, certainly, it was not a one-person show. My team-mates and coaches also deserve special mention because they have helped me reach where I am,” said Gabadinho in a telephone interview from Lilongwe before departure for Liberia with the Flames on Sunday.

He said having inspired his team to win the Presidential Cup, his focus has now switched to the Flames.

“I also want to make an impact for the national team.

“I know that it will not be easy to break into the team as there are already established strikers such as Atusaye [Nyondo], Robin [Ngalande] and Jimmy [Zakazaka]. The most important thing is to learn from them,” he said.
