Mr. Malawi Bodybuilding Championship runner-up Yasin ‘Ichocho’ Suwedi has chickened out of showcasing at next week’s non-title boxing rematch between Limbani Masamba and Alick Mwenda at Lilongwe Community Centre ground.
Ichocho was supposed to entertain fans before the bout, courtesy of No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions, but said yesterday that he has changed his mind after realising that some bodybuilders in Lilongwe might “steal” his tricks.
He said there are reports that the Mr. Malawi event, which was about to be suspended due to lack of sponsorship, might finally take place next month.
“I have realised that some potential contenders in this year’s bodybuilding contest might take advantage of my displays at the boxing bout to make off with some of my skills,” said Ichocho.
“I have spent almost a year preparing for the Mr. Malawi Competition at College of Medicine Sports Complex gym and I do not want to miss the crown just because of some few avoidable mistakes,” he said.
The Ndirande Township-based bodybuilder added that he is desperate to snatch the crown from Henry Master to appreciate assistance he has been getting from Sports Complex in terms of training and nutrition supplements.
