ICTC Malawi flies Chidale to Zim

ICTC Malawi, a local ICT company,  has funded Malawi’s sole professional golfer Paul Chidale’s trip to Zimbabwe where he will take part in an elite tournament on Thursday.

Managing director at ICTC Jane Nthakomwa and chief executive officer Partridge Shycall hosted Chidale on Tuesday at the company’s headquarters in Lilongwe where they offered him  a return air ticket.

Nthakomwa said the ICT company has a social responsibility, especially to empower the youths to achieve their dreams.

“Mr.Chidale is the only professional player we have in the country with a lot of potential and we thought of assisting him so that he can compete against the best in the region. It is only by taking part in such major tournaments that he can reach his full potential and represent the country well,” she said.

Shycall, who is also Lilongwe Golf Club captain, said the company has made Chidale their brand ambassador.

“I have known Chidale for some time and played golf alongside him. He is a top golfer with a great personality and he can go far in his career. We will be helping him to fulfil his golf calendar.

“It is unfortunate that he has failed to take part in some major tournaments. The recent one was in Uganda last month. Sometimes he had to travel by road to South Arica and that was very demeaning,” said Shycall.

Chidale, ranked one of the top golfers on the local scene, was full of appreciation after getting his ticket.

‘This is a great motivation for me and I promise to put up a top performance and will strive to win honours. I am really thankful to ICTC for coming to my assistance,” he said.

“ICTC has, therefore, come at the right time when I was desperate for sponsorship and I am very grateful,” he said.n
