If I were

IF I WERE: Garry Chirwa

Author of this column, I would realise that it was not Symon Vuwa-Kaunda who removed Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera from the list of speakers at the funeral ceremony of Traditional Authority (T/A) Malenganzona in Nkhata Bay.

Being a seasoned journalist, I would have made an effort to cross-check with those that were involved in the funeral arrangements before writing the article because in so doing, I would realise that no politician, not even me or Chakwera, was  on the initial list of speakers.

If I were my friend Garry of the ‘If I were’ fame, I would have further gathered that Vuwa-Kaunda spoke on behalf of government because the T/A’s  funeral is  government responsibility.

If I were your usual columnist, I would also not have omitted the conduct of the opposition leaders who addressed a “rally” on the sidelines of the funeral.

That is if I were the author of this column, unfortunately I am not the rastaman journalist that is Garry Chirwa. n
