If I were

If I were Greizedar Jeffrey

Secretary General (SG) of the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), I would not be speaking at government functions like I did during the elevation of Senior Chief Kawinga in Machinga because I am a party functionary.

If I were you mum, I would realise the fact that just because the President is the leader of the DPP, it does not give me the freedom to advance my party agenda at State functions.

Oh yes, if I were Jeffrey wa Jeffrey, I would, therefore, realise that at that particular function, it was only APM and the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa, in their official government capacities, who were expected to address the gathering.

How I wish I were the new DPP ‘Iron Lady’, because instead of interfering with government activities, I would devote much of my time arresting the rot in my party where ‘cadets’ are busy beating up innocent police officers and physically assaulting senior officials such as the deputy mayor of the city of Lilongwe, Juliana Kaduya.

I would realise that it is embarrassing to the party leader, who also happens to be the Head of State, for the so-called cadets to make lives miserable for innocent Malawians just because they do not belong to the ruling party.

That is, of course, if I were the beautiful lady from the lake, that is Jeff wa Jeff. Unfortunately, I am not her!
