IF I WERE: Greselder Jeffrey

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) secretary general, I would investigate claims by the party’s councillor for Mlomba Ward in Machinga Alexander Cosmas that he has resigned because of the threats he was getting from within the DPP for being part of the councillors pushing for an increase in their honoraria.

If I were dada Jeffrey, I would appreciate that while I might not have received Cosmas’ resignation letter, the reasons he has cited are serious and could affect the party’s reputation.

Oh yes, if I were the ruling party’s secretary general, I would realise that failure to act on the matter would portray that DPP is aware of the issue and probably supporting the said expulsion from behind the scenes.

How I wish I were madam Jeffrey because I would realise that Cosmas was only exercising his right as a councillor and if indeed members of the DPP went that far, then they are going out of their way.

I would further school my party members to separate party and government issues. That is if I were Greselder Jeffrey, but I am not her! Have a blessed 2020 madam SG.
