This and That

If wishes were limos…

Jah people, Lilongwe-based businessperson Michael Msungama is a fulfillment of his extra-large dreams.

Just days before TV presenter Fatima Nkata was ejected from Big Brother Africa (BBA), Msungama was on MBC television, explaining how his deluxe car hire, starring the only limousine in the capital, is giving  Malawians a taste of the opulence they used to encounter in Hollywood films only.

Nothing proclaims fame, influence and affluence than having the XL car on your convoy when you have get-togethers worth remembering.

Of course, Fatima  had just been nominated to leave the BBA reality show when Msungama was unpacking his glitzy fleet on the station for the nation. However, she was overheard sighing how much she covets the limo glare. In her generous sense of self-importance, the former TV presenter seemed to think she is an A-list celebrity. Despite being ice-cold except when she was not badmouthing other housemates, she has been on TV, done PR for a defunct lottery firm and regularly MCs big events. Even before BBA housemates were unveiled, news had it she was a real deal: clever, assertive, fluent and on top of issues.

But media favourite Fatima was a raw deal and it is ironic why she thought she thinks she deserved the limo.

By  the way, only last year’s contender Wati Kulemeka got Msungama’s plush machine—and not for being evicted after just one nomination, but going all the way to the finals.

To get her larger-than-life wish, Fatima only needed to win BBA’s multimillion kwacha prize. Yet she could only sit back and bore viewers while underdog Natasha was surviving nonstop nominations until last Sunday.

Welcome down to earth!

The jury is out, watching how the pair will exploit their short-lived BBA glow to become shinning stars befitting red-carpet treatment—unlike former flops who have melted back to their former nothingness.

And this is breaking news for the limo-hearted madam: Msungama dreams bringing a six-door Hummer for people with fame and a dime!

  1. For a newspaper that has been the pride of the nation in reporting well balanced factual stories, this is a disgrace. I have never been a fan of big brother but I happened to be on the same flight as the young lady when she arrived and I was behind her when she was about to get into the vehicle that awaited her. She never once mentioned wanting a lomozine! what she said, which she said jokingly to her father who works for CFAO the Nissan dealership was ” its a Toyota dad, Nissan is lagging behind”. it is unfortunate she waa misquoted but what is more unfortunate is that you would report on such as fact.

  2. James Chavula you are a disgrace to professional journalism. This sounds too personal. What an idiot
