Inspector General of Police Lot Dzonzi last Sunday presided over the weddings of 29 families who are members of Area 30 CCAP Church in Lilongwe.
Dzonzi, who is also an elder at the church, advised the couples to dedicate time for their families, saying strong families form the foundation for societies and nations.
He said most families have collapsed because of external forces as well as lack of trust among couples.
“Make sure you have time for each other because families that normally spend time together understand their children’s problems easily. About 90 percent of girls who start relationships with sugar daddies at a tender age do so because of lack of fatherly care,” said Dzonzi.
He said the absence of fathers in homes creates conditions that make many children to misbehave, arguing that this could be one of the reasons most children nowadays are unruly.
“We have seen many schools being closed because of violence and this is so because children are not being properly guided in homes. As a church elder, I normally take my son to prayer sessions because if a man is close to God it is rare that he goes astray. “Parents must stay home and advise their children because we are sitting on a national crisis when our children are growing up with domestic workers,” said Dzonzi.
He advised wives to be submissive to their husbands and husbands to love their wives the way they love their bodies.
“Where there is love, there is jealousy because even Jesus died for the church,” said Dzonzi.
