IG’s wife encourages women

Ruth Kachama, wife to Inspector General (IG) of Police Lexten Kachama, yesterday visited police women and spouses of police officers at Police Training School in Kanjedza, Blantyre, to encourage them to strengthen their marriages through good nutrition and home management.

Kachama, who in the past week has been visiting women within Malawi Police Service (MPS) in the Southern Region, called on the women to support each other in home management affairs.

She said: “The women have learnt different skills which we are here to see. They have also been learning how to look after their homes. These skills are [what we need] to upgrade ourselves.”

During the event, the women exhibited home-made cakes, aprons, jam and wine, among other items.

Bridgette Ngamuti from Southern Region Police Headquarters said the skills will help the women to start their own businesses to boost their families’ finances.

“I would like to encourage the women to save money little by little to start up something that will benefit their families,” she said.
