According to Illovo Sugar Malawi’s assistant general manager (marketing) Walter Nyamilandu, the company has bought return air tickets for the cyclists and will pay for their accommodation, food and external allowances.

“It is our wish to keep on exposing local cyclists to international events and the two cyclists will enjoy our support at the 94.7 km Cycle Challenge in South Africa. We are committed to improving the sport in the country,” he said.

Kathumba, who has been representing the country at the Cape Argus Cycling Race in South Africa four times, will be competing in the 94.7 km Cycle Challenge for the first time while Misolo will be doing it for the third time.

Kathumba and Misolo told The Nation yesterday that they were ready for the challenge and make the country proud at the international contest that attracts over 1 000 contestants from around the globe.
