Incognito registers first defeat

Incognito’s unbeaten run in the Central Region Pool League (CRPL) came to a halt on Sunday. Tthey suffered a humiliating 9-1 defeat at the hands of Snipers at Chinsapo in Likuni.

Incognito had a 20-game clean record.

Coming from Saturday’s 9-3 triumph over Red Sea, Incognito met their fate on Sunday, when they were dislodged from position two to three.

They completely lost the game in the first half as they trailed 5-1 at break.

While conceding defeat, Incognito technical director Bob Jafali said: “Snipers played a mind game. They took us to a different venue, not their usual venue. We protested and later they reverted to their old venue, but after some of our key players had given up. This affected our players psychologically.”

With the defeat, Incognito have dropped to three on the log table. They have 47 points from 22 games, but have an inferior goal aggregate to Sunset.

Sunset collected four points from a possible six. On Saturday, they beat league leaders Michigan 8-4.

On Sunday, Sunset shared the spoils with Alliance One after a 6-6 draw to ascend to second position.

In other results, FIB had mixed fortunes after they collected three points from a possible six. They lost 8-4 to Mango on Saturday but won over Achewa 9-3.

FIB, are on 10th position with 35 points whereas Achewa have slumped from position 13 to 17 with 26 points.

S5 had an awful weekend after they lost 7-5 to Gulliver before sharing the spoils 6-6 with Hellipoters on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Umqombothi, has written CRPL threatening to withdraw from the league.

According to the letter copied to the Malawi Pool Association of Malawi (Mapa) and The Nation, the team is accusing the league’s disciplinary committee of lacking fairness in their case rulings. The Area 25A-based team has already started shunning the fixtures.
