Indebank last week launched K200 Yokha! Campaign which will see people opening savings accounts with minimum balance of K200.

The aim of the campaign, according to a press statement from Indebank, is to allow as many people as possible to open savings accounts with the bank.

“This year, we are celebrating 40th anniversary. As part of our celebrations, we have launched the K200 Yokha! Campaign.

“The campaign is aimed at expediting our efforts in bridging the gap between the banked and unbanked,” says the statement, quoting Indebank chief executive officer William Chatsala.

The bank, according to Chatsala, has recruited brand ambassadors who will be visiting marketplaces, offices, bus stations and other public places to help people open the account.

“The minimum balance for this savings account is K200. It attracts no monthly ledger fees and has a return of 8 percent a year. The attendant benefits that come with this account include: loans, access to reliable ATM service, free statement twice a year, transacting from any of the 15 Indebank branches/service centres across the country, buying airtime and paying utility bills at any Indebank’s ATMs,” reads the statement.
