JB cheated Malawians on rotten maize —Chipani Cha Pfuko
Presidential candidate for Chipani Cha Pfuko (CCP), Davis Chester Katsonga, has said President Joyce Banda cheated Malawians on the alleged rotten maize in the government silos in Lilongwe.
Katsonga claimed the maize the President is distributing was obtained from the government silos.
But presidential adviser on communication and politics Wakuda Kamanga said Katsonga just wants to tarnish the image of the President “who is doing a great job for Malawians”.
Speaking on Matindi FM radio on Tuesday, Katsonga said: “I regard myself as a statesman, but let me mention it here that President Joyce Banda is a liar. She cheated Malawians that the maize got rotten, but I have all information about drivers who were carrying maize from Lilongwe silos to a certain company which was then packing it in bags written Joyce Banda. This is the maize that Banda is distributing to people”.
Katsonga challenged government to show where it dumped the rotten maize.
“Banda claims that the maize she is distributing was imported, if that is the case then let her show Malawians all the documents about the importation,” said Katsonga.
Kamanga said the maize really rotted and evidence is there to show. “Katsonga is wrong and he merely wants to degrade President Banda who is doing a very good job for Malawians. The rotten maize was sold to be used as livestock feed. The maize that Banda is distributing is from well-wishers. When these well-wishers asked her what kind of help she wanted, she chose maize so that she can help vulnerable people,” he said.
