JB lays foundation stone at Sadzi CCAP

Malawi President Joyce Banda last Sunday laid a foundation stone for the new Sadzi CCAP Church in Zomba.

Speaking at the function, Banda said people should help themselves first before seeking assistance from others.

“Let us learn that when we give more we are also going to receive more because God blesses a cheerful giver. We should learn to give back to God for God started the process,” said Banda.

Sadzi CCAP moderator Reverend Kingsley Maulana said the church began in the 1970s.

He said people around Chikowi used to attend services at Zomba CCAP Church or Luwatala Prayer House.

“In the early 1990s, the current prayer house we now see was constructed and became fully established with a manse in 1993 under Reverend Felix Chingota,” said Maulana.

According to Maulana, over the years the church has grown from an initial congregation of about 200 members to over 3 000 at present.

“It is against this background that in 2011 the church decided to construct a magnificent, contemporary and multimillion kwacha structure worth K120 million (about $300 000) whose beginning we are witnessing today,” he said.
