Regional finals of the K100 million Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF) Inter-Constituencey Football and Netball Tournament were played at the weekend in the North, Eastern and Central regions.
In the North, Mzuzu City emerged football champions after beating Karonga South 1-0 whereas in netball, Mzimba North saw off Karonga North 23-11.
The games were played at Chibavi Ground in Mzuzu.
In Eastern Region, Machinga Likwenu clinched the football championship after beating Balaka Central 4-3 in post-match penalties, the two teams tied 2-all in regulation time.
In netball, Machinga Likwenu beat Balaka Central 18-10.
According to one of the organisers Steve Nkoka, both games were charecterised with end-to-end action.
In the Centre, Nkhotakota South East edged Lilongwe City 3-2 while in netball, Nkhotakota North beat Lilongwe Msozi North 47-17
The champions in football got K100 000 whereas the runners-up pocketed K50 000. The netball champions got K70 000 whereas the runners-up got K30 000. n
