For winning the tournament, the football team received a set of uniform and six balls while their netball counterparts got a set of uniform and a ball.

The school’s head teacher for primary school, James Mlonga, said they were excited and overwhelmed with the two teams’ feat.

“As an institution, we are proud of our boys and girls’ achievements because our aim is to excel in all areas, including academic work and sports,” he said.

The school’s football and netball teams’ captains Elizabeth Chilombolombo and Benjamin Msuku attributed their success to good preparations and team work.

Said Chilombolombo: “It was all down to team spirit and we are proud to have excelled.”

On his part Msuku said: “It wasn’t easy, our opponents also put up a grand fight, but I think we deserved to win.”

Their coach Elick Nasiyaya said good preparations coupled with tactics gave them an edge over their opponents.

JBF sports director Robert ‘Rober Me’ Munthali said the two teams’ success gives them confidence that they have promising talent for the future. n
