Jiya at the helm of Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited

The board of Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited, subsidiary of dual-listed Old Mutual plc (OML), has appointed Edith Jiya as its acting group chief executive officer (CEO).

A statement from Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited chairperson Tavazina Madzinga on Monday said her appointment is effective October 6 2015 and follows the secondment of CEO Chris Kapanga to Old Mutual Ghana.

Jiya has since 2011 been managing director (MD) of one of the subsidiary companies of Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited—Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (Malawi) Limited.

“She is a member of the Old Mutual Malawi executive management committee. As managing director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (Malawi) Limited, she has spearheaded business growth and improved customer proposition and experience,” said Madzinga.

He said the board is confident that Jiya will continue to excel in her new role and the company will continue to count on her for “continued support as we strive to continue doing great things together”.

Among other qualifications, Jiya qualified as a chartered insurer in 2013.
