Jong, Mwanza win Nico General golf

Jong Mun–Limu was the toast of the evening on Wednesday when he won the Nico General Ball Pool hosted by Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC).

Jong got 22 stablefold points ahead of Sunil Godambe who counted out Thakor Mahindra on 20 points.

Brian Coombes had the longest drive whereas Frank Mvalo was nearest to the pin.

For his feat, Jong received a trophy and a 900 watts Microwave.

In his speech, Jong thanked Nico General for the tournament.

“I am happy to have won this golf and I thank Nico General for this feat,” said Jong.

In the women’s category, it was Regina Mwanza, who walked tall on the greens after counting out Sheila Chinkhandwe on 20 points.

Karen Baylis had the longest drive while Mwanza was nearest to the pin.

Mwanza, too, appreciated Nico General’s support for the event.

“Many thanks to Nico General for organising this golf. I am so excited today to have won. This is a fourth major win for me this year,” said Mwanza.

Nico General chief executive officer Eric Chapola said the golf was a thank you to their Lilongwe clients for giving them good business over the years.

“The objective was to pool together brokers and our direct clients and thank you for the good business you have given us this year,” said Chapola.

Nico General has been sponsoring golf at LGC for over 10 years. Chapola promised that they will be back next year with a fully fledged 18-hole tournament.

LGC captain Justice Ken Manda also expressed gratitude to Nico General for the event.
