Epac FC patron and sponsor Dini Josaya-Banda has decided against poking his nose in coach and players’ selection for next season, saying such involvement brought friction last season.

Officials such as general secretary Roy Mdechi, among others, resigned last season after coach Audlow Makonyola was removed towards the late stage of the 2014 TNM Super League season as the club battled against the drop.

While he has helped in coaches’ choice in good faith, such actions have been misinterpreted, adding “I do not see a situation where a coach says leave me alone, I came with Mr. Josaya. This year the committee will be fully in charge.”

In this respect, Epac FC chairperson Trickson Chiutsi on Tuesday said they had thrown in the hat names of three coaches as possible replacements for Makonyola.

Chiutsi on Tuesday cited Blantyre United’s Leo Mpulula and former Silver Strikers mentors Dan Dzinkambani and Lovemore Fazili as possible candidates.

“When our executive committee met recently, these were the names that were suggested. The next stage is to have a chat with them and see where they stand. Depending on their plans, then we will pick one who we think can deliver. By January 2 or 3 2015 we would have announced the identity of the new coach,” Chiutsi said.

The committee will also meet over new players to be recruited having lost regulars such as Jaffalie Chande, Ishmael Thindwa, Mussa Manyenje and Pilirani Zonda last season.

Epac finished 11th in the league last season having collected 30 points in 28 games. Meanwhile, the Super League of Malawi has announced the opening of the player transfer window from December 22 2014 to April 1 2015. n
