Judiciary not lagging behind—Kachale

The Malawi Judiciary Training Committee says the judiciary is not lagging behind on technologies that pose a great challenge to many organisations.

Its chairperson Justice Chifundo Kachale said this during the opening of the three-day Electronic Record Management Training workshop organised by Malawi Judiciary training Committee with funding from European Union (EU) through Democratic Governance Programme in Blantyre.

The workshop, attended by 13 regional community service officers, will see participants gaining knowledge on keeping records electronically as they discharge their duties.

“We started these training sessions in December where 27 officers were also trained. We are now finalising with regional officers. Time has come for the judiciary to move from manual record management to electronic keeping,” said Kachale.

The programme targeted 40 judicial community service officers from district and regional levels to ensure that justice is administered in courts.

Kachale advised officers to develop a culture that will satisfy the needs of people who use courts, saying there should be positive relationship with people they interact with.

“There must be positive relationship between you and those people you interact with. Remember you are trained to lead and not to be bosses,” said Kachale.
