“We thank Lindeli for pumping K1 million towards this year national tournament which will take place in Mzuzu. So far, six teams from across the country have confirmed their participation,” Taekwando assistant national coach Taipeni Kamanga said.

The teams are from Mzuzu, Salima, Lilongwe, Blantyre, Njuli and Zomba clubs.

The tournament will be contested in kids, junior and senior categories.

According to Kamanga, this year competition will also be used to identify five best players who will represent Malawi in the 2016 Africa Olympic Continental Games to take place in Agadir, Morocco in February 2016.

“We are encouraging people in Mzuzu to come in their large number and watch the competition. The most exciting thing is that we will use this tournament to select top athletes who will represent Malawi during the Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Morocco, February next year,” he said.
