K250 000 for Chazama, Kayira bout winner

After weeks of unprecedented verbal war between challenger Laston Kayira and Salimu Chazama, the day has arrived for the two pugilists to settle it in the ring in a eight-round non-title fight to take place at M1 Center Point in Lilongwe.

Ngwenyama Boxing Promotions have organised the fight have dangled K250 000 for the winner while the loser will pocket K200 000.

Chazama, who is coming from a successful trip from Tanzanian where he drew against Allan Kamote, said he is geared up to silence Kayira.

“He is talking a lot but I will speak with my fists. With fairness and professionalism from the judges I have no doubt of winning this fight,” said Chazama.

Kayira said he is not awed by Chazama and will go to Lilongwe with a mission to defeat the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer.

“I am not about names. I don’t let reputation awe me. I know my capabilities. I have been training a lot for the past two months. I am in shape to fight any boxer. This is my time to make a name and win the credibility of promoters, “said a confident Kayira.

The Moyale Barracks Boxing stable boxer said he is ready for the fight.

“I am in good shape as I have done every kind of training.  I’m not

relaxing but working hard every day, “he said.

Ngwenyam Boxing Promorions director Patrick Ngwenyama said fans should expect a great fight.

In supporting bouts, Robert Kachiza will take on Acras Mchombo, while Limbani Chikapa will fight Alexander Likande.

Dickson Saidi fight Gift Phiri while Yusuf Ali will take on Yamikani Mkandawire.

Enelesi Nkhwati will face Russy Phiri. n
