Organisers of the first edition of Mr. Muscleman Bodybuilding Tournament have said the overall winner will pocket K500 000 ($1000).

According to one of the organisers Ginger Makawa, the tournament has already started on regional basis.

He said in the Eastern Region, Thoko Baba [Mr. Zomba] was crowned champion at Chancellor College on July 4 while Tridax Martin won the junior category.

Makawa added that for Central Region bodybuilders, the tournament will be held at Sunbird Capital on August 7 and on the same day, Southern Region bodybuilders will compete at Sunbird Mount Soche.

“In all these venues, the categories are in Mr. Muscleman senior and Mr. Muscleman junior. The grand finale is on September 5 at Sunbird Nkopola.

“The top-five—in both categories—will pose down at Miss Bikini Beach Party at Sunbird Nkopola on September 6,” said Makawa.

He said the 2015 Mr. Muscleman winner will be the ambassador for the Ministry of Gender, Disability and Social Welfare to fight gender-based violence on a one-year contract.

Makawa said the tournament is open to all interested bodybuilders and that prizes for the other positions and regional champions will be announced later.

Makawa, who is also promoting Mr Ndirande (Cyborg) and Boro Chigwirampeni of Lilongwe, urged bodybuilders to train hard for the competition.

“Bodybuilding sport is about entertainment. We do not go to gym to fight rather to maintain physical fitness and put our bodies in good health and sexy shapes.

“With the rampant increase of these new diseases like BP even when you go to hospitals doctors encourage some physical exercises,” said Makawa.
