Big Bullets and Flames midfielder Henry ‘Magetsi’ Kabichi and Moyale Barracks’ Andy Simkonda have bounced back into action.

Kabichi is back after recovering from an ankle injury that kept him out for two months whereas Simkonda wanted to try athletics.

Kabichi confirmed in an interview at the weekend being declared fit by doctors.

“I feel relieved that I have finally returned to action and I look forward to getting my position back although I am aware that it will not be easy as the team now has a number of quality players in that position,” said Kabichi.

But Bullets assistant coach Gerald ‘Papa’ Phiri said Kabichi has to work on his fitness.

Apart from Kabichi, other players at Bullets nursing injuries include Fundi Akidu, JelesiLufeyo Grant Lungu and Yamikani Fodya.

Moyale coach Nicholas Mhango is thrilled by Simkonda’s return.

“He is through with his holiday he was granted after giving it a try in athletics at the Malawi Armed Forces College (Mafco) in Salima during the army games,” said Mhango.

“Some of our players also took part in the games, but Simkonda’s role was so involving as he featured in many categories such as 100 metres, 200 metres and relay races.”

Simkonda is expected to start training today, just in the nick of time as Moyale prepare to launch their final assault on the Presidential Cup final against Big Bullets.

And, by the way, Moyale also have an eye on reclaiming the Standard Bank Cup since they are among the seven seeded teams to join the race in the quarter-final stage having lost to Blue Eagles in the final last season.

However, for Andy’s brother Gastin, who was Moyale’s top scorer last season, the wait for him continues for the Kaning’ina soldiers as he is under going military training at Mafco. Recently, Mafco striker Zasha Mnong’oneza won a category during a national athletics championship in Zomba.
