Concerned Youth Organisation (CYO) says good governance and gender mainstreaming are essential for Malawi’s development.

CYO executive director, Harvey Chimaliro made the remarks on Friday when he officially opened a two-day training workshop for residents of Kachere Township in Blantyre.

The training was aimed at empowering residents with skills and knowledge on how to lobby for development projects in their areas.

“Gender equality and good governance matter in getting development results in communities and the country. Malawi needs strong leadership backed by a high quality public service if we are to transform,” he said.

He expressed hope that the training would inspire residents to embrace and entrench principles of gender equality and good governance.

The training was financed by donors’ consortium—Tilitonse Fund.
