Kafoteka joins Nomads

Discarded Flames vice-captain Elvis Kafoteka has expressed intention to join Mighty Wanderers. The former Rwanda-based defender, who has been inactive since last year, started training with the Nomads on Tuesday with the hope of being offered a deal.

While Kafoteka could not be reached for comment on Thursday, Nomads general secretary David Kanyenda confirmed the development.

“It is true, he has expressed interest to join us. Actually, he started training on Tuesday.

“So, our technical panel will assess him and recommend to the executive committee on whether to sign him, but we will be pleased to add to our squad a player of his quality and vast experience. It will increase our defensive options,” said Kanyenda.

Kafoteka had trials with a number of teams in Thailand a few months ago.

The right-back, who has put on a bit of weight, claimed that he succeeded during the trials with one of the Thai teams, but could not agree on the terms.
