Through the meeting organised by Concern Universal Chikwawa office by using sports as a tool to bring communities together, it was noted that most teachers in the area were not respected by pupils because parents themselves looked down on teachers.

Mthumba Primary School deputy head teacher Emmanuel Gale said most children at the school lacked respect for their teachers because of parents.

Said Gale: “Most of the children here hold shares within Kasinthula Cane Growers and feel they have all they need in life.”

Chikwawa district sports officer Sophie Mzunga urged pupils to continue with education other than indulging in premarital sex and early marriages which put them at risk of HIV and Aids. n
