TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets will be without their first choice goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe for the next three weeks following an injury he sustained while on national duty.

Kakhobwe twisted his knee-cap and has since been put in a plaster of Paris (PoP), according to general secretary Kelvin Moyo.

The GS said the injury was aggravated when he was featured in the team’s 2-0 victory over PremierBet Wizard a week ago.

“Kakhobwe came with the injury from the national team, but we did not know how bad it was. We featured him in that game ignorantly. But when he went for scanning, it was revealed that his knee cap moved. He will be out of action for three weeks,” Moyo said.

The development means the People’s Team will have to rely on Chimwemwe Kumkwawa, who has just completed a three-match ban and goalkeeper trainer Swadick Sanudi as a substitute.

Kumkwawa was suspended alongside Mafco players for their involvement in a fracas that happened at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa prior to Carlsberg Cup quarter-final match.

He missed the quarter-final against Mafco, league matches against Wizards and Kamuzu Barracks.

His first game will be against Moyale Barracks tomorrow and Mzuzu University (Mzuni) on Sunday  at Mzuzu Stadium.

Mzuni coach Alex Ngwira will be hoping to produce another upset after the students stunned Be Forward Wanderers 4-2 at Kamuzu Stadium in the first round.

Bullets won the first round encounter 2-0 through goals from Bashir Maunde and Henry Kabichi and Ngwira said a win would be prefect revenge.

Bullets are on position three with 31 points from 17 games while the students are on position five with 29 points from 17 games as well.

In other Super League matches, Be Forward Wanderers host Karonga United at Kamuzu Stadium while Blue Eagles and Silver Strikers clash at Nankhaka.

Dwangwa United host Epac at Chitowe Stadium while Civo will be at home, Civo Stadium, against Red Lions.

The Zomba-based soldiers wrap up their trip to the Central Region against Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday while Karonga United’s last assignment for the weekend is against Azam Tigers.

Mafco will play Epac FC at Chitowe while rookies Max Bullets and PremeirBet Wizard clash at Mpira Stadium. n
