Kaliati drills Cedar for PIS finals

Lilongwe and Districts Netball League (LDNL) outfit Cedar Queens were drilled by former Malawi Queens coach Edith Kaliati in readiness for the Presidential Cup finals which start today (Thursday).

Cedar manager Fanuel Katengeza said Kaliati has been with the team for 10 days.

“Of course, she [Kaliati] was here in Lilongwe on a personal trip, so we approached her to drill the girls in preparation for the finals. She has been with us for 10 days and we are grateful for her kind gesture,” said Katengeza.

Youthful Cedar player Molly Chisambilo said they have learnt a lot from Kaliati and that they are prepared for the Blantyre event.

“With the skills we have acquired, we are geared to take any team at the finals,” said Chisambilo.

Efforts to talk to Kaliati proved futile.

Cedar Queens were seeded together with Blue Eagles Sisters and Civonets.

Mafco Soldiers have also made it to the finals after they emerged Central Region champions on Sunday.

Kaliati resigned last year as coach for both the national team and MTL Queens. The three-day presidential national finals will be played at Blantyre Youth Centre.
