Veteran netball coach Edith Kaliati has ruled herself out of the vacant Malawi Queens’ job whose candidates the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has short-listed.

“I did not apply for the position. Not now. Maybe in future I will be able to help when asked to do so,” said Kaliati who quit netball last year for unexplained reasons.

With Kaliati’s successor Griffin Saenda offered the Queens technical adviser position, the issue of the senior team trainer remains under wraps.

NAM has since assured that it will unveil the Queens and Under-21 coaching panels this week.

On Friday, NAM president Rosy Chinunda said she was supposed to unveil coaches and their assistants but they are currently getting input from other stakeholders about the people they have earmarked for the positions.

“Once we are satisfied, they will each sign two-year contracts subject to review,” said Chinunda.

Rankings are at stake for Africa’s number one team and sixth best in the world as they go into next month’s invitational tournaments in the United Arab Emirates.
