Kaliati to attend trials in South Africa

Be Forward Wanderers and Flames winger Isaac ‘Tcheya’ Kaliati has been invited for trials by South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Cape Town City.

Kaliati confirmed in a brief interview yesterday that he will depart for South Africa on March 7 and return on March 21.

“The period for the trials is two weeks and I am hoping to do well so that I can be offered a deal,” he said.

A well-placed source said although the South African transfer window is closed, Kaliati could join them as a free agent because his contract with the Nomads has since expired.

“He has not yet committed his future to Wanderers until after the outcome of the trials,” said the source.

The Nomads general secretary Mike Butao also confirmed the trials but referred The Nation to Kaliati.

“It is true but talk to either Kaliati himself or his father because he is the one who has the details,” he said.

Cape Town City have taken the Absa Premiership by storm this season and are currently second on the log table with 35 points from 19 games.
