To win the award, the organisations looked at attributes such as leadership and interpersonal skills, charisma, social impact, integrity and ethic, visionary approach, change agent and business achievement.

Kaliati thanked the media for making her work known.

“For people to know what you are doing, there is need for the media. Continue covering the good work that I do so that I continue winning the awards,” she said.

Chairperson of board of trustees of Federation of Disability Organisations in Malawi (Fedoma), Towera Masiku, said the minister deserved the award as she has demonstrated to be a woman of the people.

In August this year, Kaliati also received an award of excellence for her involvement in the acceleration of gender protocols in the Southern Africa Development Community (Sadc) region.n
