Hopes to promote gospel artists: Kalilani

Renowned hip hop gospel artist David Kalirani and his sister Zora Matundu have formed a music company, Arise Multimedia to promote gospel music.

According to Kalirani, the company has already taken on board another hip hop gospel artist KBG’s album Word ndi Mawu.

He said the company was eyeing other hip hop gospel artists to promote their music and spread the gospel to many young people.

“This is just for a start, but we intend to grow and work with many artists. If all goes according to plan we want the company to be a record label so that we can be signing gospel artists.

“We also intend to be working with other music companies outside the country by organising gospel concerts and so on. So there are a lot of things we intend to do,” said Kalirani.

He said the company is also focused on promoting late Wisdom Chiteze’s songs including those on his albums: Speechless, Linga Langa and The best of Qopesh Brown.

Kalirani said the company also plans to hold a concert in memory of Chitedze and the proceeds will go to his family.

“We are in touch with the family of Chitedze and we want them to give us a go ahead on the things we are planning. We have also asked them to give us the songs that were not released so that we can compile them,” said Kalirani.

Already Kalirani worked on the track Ulendo as a tribute to Chitedze.
