Kaliyapa elected Nomads supporters’ boss
Yamikani Kaliyapa was on Saturday elected Be Forward Mighty Wanderers Supporters Committee chairperson in controversial elections held at the Super League side’s Chichiri clubhouse in Blantyre.
He emerged victor unopposed after his rival Yona Malunga boycotted the polls, claiming his supporters were barred from entering the premises to vote.
Kaliyapa said his first mission would be to unite the supporters.
“We have been divided because of the polls. I will ensure that we are united again and rally behind the team,” the 37-year-old said.
Kaliyapa replaces Dinesi Chitsulo who did not contest in the polls.
The polls’ other big casualty was outgoing general secretary Paul Mphempo, who lost to Wisdom Patel.
James Chiutsankhondo was elected first vice-chairperson with 367 votes against John Luka’s 234 and General Chapoteka’s 77 votes.
Tyson Bonongwe is the second vice-chairperson after defeating Anson Nyamazikuluzikulu.
Bushiri Window was elected treasurer after he beat Anthony Chawanda and Domic Anniva.
Jimmy Muta is his deputy after he floored Samuel Chikampani and Foster Phiri.
Herbert Mlaka, Steve Master, Majid Julius,Charles Lizigeni, Batholomew Kampango, Bryan Mmemo and Olive Kandota were elected committee members.
