Kamlepo Kalua has questioned his decision to dispute party primaries results in Rumphi East: Msonda

Former Malawi Democratic Party (MDP) president Kamlepo Kalua has questioned People’s Party (PP) deputy publicity secretary Ken Msonda’s decision to dispute party primaries results in Rumphi East recently.

Msonda has however refused to comment, saying the party is looking into the matter to find the way forward.
In an interview on Tuesday during the Ziyarah celebrations in Blantyre, Kamlepo wondered why Msonda who came third complained while the one who came second accepted the primaries’ results.
“It’s unfortunate that he [Msonda] has access to the media. He came third while Saulos Thindwa, the one who came second, accepted the results. Do you see any logic to his claims?” Asked Kalua, who joined the PP.
Kalua said Msonda got just over 700 votes while he got over 3 000.
“In fact, Msonda was the one who was distributing ballot papers. We left him to do that, but now he is claiming foul. Is there any logic?” asked Kalua.
He said he would not accept accept a rerun in the constituency should the party decides so.
“Had he came second and lost with a few votes, I would definitely consider that, but surely not [losing] with that margin. I personally do not know what he wants,” he said.
Msonda refused to comment on Kalua’s assertions, saying the party is working on the complaints.
He, however, said even if he got a zero vote, he would still protest if he felt that there was unfairness.
A number of candidates have protested PP primaries results in most parts in the country. These include Karonga Central where the party has finally decided that Cornelius Mwalwanda, who won the primaries is the rightful winner.

  1. I come from Mlowe in Rumphi district and I know both Kenneth Chitatata Nkhwambanandi Msonda and Ben Mwinyi Kamulepo Kalua, infact these people are causins, very close relatives.
What happened was very unfortunate; Msonda is right, the whole election process was a total flop.
Kamlepo Kalua and Saulos Thindwa told us that voting is free for all as long as we bring MEC voter registration card and not just PP members.
I am not a PP member but I voted at Nkhombwa polling centre at Mlowe. We are told many DPP members voted against Msonda for Kamlepo to win.
As if that was not enough, Kamlepo never addressed any party meeting to tell PP members the voting procedure it was Msonda and PP district and constituency members. All Kamlepo was doing was driving around buying beers for people to vote for him during primaries.
Come what may, Kamlepo cannot win in Rumphi East Constituency, wali kutondekapo kari katatu and Saulosi yakhi ndi bola ngwa ndyare chara.
Imwe ba PP muyaneyanepo makora pa ivyo Msonda wakudandaula otherwise forget wining Rumphi East with Kamlepo as your candidate.

  2. Hey Bana, there is nothing unfortunate here, come May not only PP members are going to vote for MP’s and President , it will be all registered voters regardless of party affiliation, so the fact that dada boot licker Msonda failed in the party primaries with all his media exposure just goes to show you that people are not that stupid after all they can see through this shallow empty tin called Ken Msonda. These people were contesting on an even playing field and Mr K Msonda just proved to himself how unpopular he is in his own constituency.

  3. wakuba mtila, you are missing the point. Look at the issue before us objectively dont be emotional or bring in your personal hate opinion.
The fact is Kamlepo and Thindwa misled people and did not follow rules and regulations as per party policy.
This resulted to masive abuse of the voting system not only in Rumphi East but across the country. Had the party listened to Msondas arguement which we are told Msonda brought to the attention of the party seniors on 24th December, this loop hole could have been corrected. How can Jones Chingola loose against Dr Daza, thats very impossible!
Truth be told, PP primary elections were not free, democratic and fair, if the party is not careful, it shall loose miserably during the forth coming tripartite elections.

  4. Msonda cannot loose to Kamlepo, Kalitendere cannot loose in Machinga,,Koloviko cannot loose to Masiku, Mrs Mphande cannot loose to Mushi,,Beauty cannot loose to Sammys, Chingola cannot loose to Daza and the list goes on.
Why is PP failing to resolve Rumphi East dispute, this was the first Constituency to complain about irregularities in the way primary elections was conducted.
I can see two big fish behind this issue; JB on Msonda side and Khumbo on Kamlepo side!

  5. Cry my once beloved Malawi, a nation full of cowards and cashgate trickstars.
We Malawians are short sighted,,we dont comment on issues national concern objectively. Msonda, Kamlepo,,Thindwa Rumphi East issue is not as complicated as PP would like us to believe.
PP primaries was not free, fair and democratic, people who participated in the voting were not only PP members. The opposition took advantage of the likes of Kamlepo and Thindwa mispresentation of voting system and voted too.
Rumphi East needs a re-run or simply disqualify those who misled people on the voting system.

  6. I over heard my freinds who happen to be UDF members doing business at Blantyre curios celebrating that they have voted against Ednor Koloviko for Bertha Masiku to win, in Chilomoni way before results were announced.
I know both Ken Msonda and Kamlepo Kalua and, have followed their political career with keen interest. There is no waymMsondamcan loose to Kamlepo, not even in Rumphi East.
As Bana rightly said, these people are cousins and have family differencies since the death of Msonda’s father who happened to be Kamlepo’s uncle.
If PP will not handle Rumphi East case carefully, this could be another “BENGALI”, a repeat of Karonga Central problem between Mwenefumbo and Mwalwanda.

  7. Piiiiiiii Piiiiiiiii! Yanyamukaaaaaaaa! Odiiiiiiiii Ukooooooo! Musonda adutseeeeeeee! Iwe Kamlepo, osamupinga-pinga Musondaaaaaaa!

  8. Masankho ayenda bwino, palibenso zobwereza apa.
Zikoma a PP mwatipatsa mphwemphwa, May 20 tidutsa moyera!
Congats opposition for a job well done, aonachakuda a PP come 20 May. Maka ku Machinga kwa Kalitendere, timadera nkhawa kuti President wathu Atupele zitha bwanji. Kalitendere is a thorn in Achair’s fresh.
Eisheeeee, the youngman is bad news in as far as Machinga politics is concerned. All traditional leaders in this area are against Bakili and his son
