Newly-crowned 2013 Carlsberg Cup kings Kamuzu Barracks (KB) have ruled out the prospect of signing new players.

Unconfirmed reports have of late linked several big-name players from Silver Strikers, Mighty Wanderers and Big Bullets to the Lilongwe soldiers’ camp.

But KB general secretary Dickson Ntontholo on Tuesday said their camp had enough depth to meet the demands of the jammed local fixtures.

“I do not think there is any better player out there than the ones we have. With our success, it is natural that people will link some players to us, but I do not think we are bringing anyone,” Ntontholo explained.

In the close season, KB signed Mustafa Salimu and Harvey Nkacha from Silver Strikers while also bringing Dave Banda from Red Lions. Manase Chiyesa and Kelvin Hang’anda also signed from Escom United now Kabula United.

Meanwhile, Army Commander General Henry Odillo on Wednesday could not entertain talk on whether KB players would be promoted as was the case with Mafco who lifted the Presidential Cup.

Odillo insisted such matters are internal.
