His appointment comes after almost seven years since the utility company had a full CEO after the departure of Dr. Allexon Chiwaya in 2005.

After Chiwaya left, Escom was headed by acting CEOs from Kandi Padambo, Peterson Zembani, Arthur Mandambwe and the last one being Peter Mtonda.

Comptroller of statutory corporations Nwazi M’nthambala confirmed Kandulu’s appointment on Monday, but declined to provide further details.

Said M’nthambala: “I can confirm that Escom has a new CEO and he is Mr. Kandulu. All the processes were done and he was successful. For the other details, you can ask him.”

But Kandulu said he could not immediately comment on the appointment.

Escom’s public relations manager Kitty Chingota also confirmed Kandulu’s recruitment and a circular sent to all staff on the development. She said the CEO is expected to report for duty this November 15.
