Kanyenda impresses Danish club

Danish East Second Division side B1893 has said it was impressed with Flames forward Esau Kanyenda during his stint with the club.

The team, which is coached by former Flames mentor Kim Splidsboel, signed Kanyenda on a short contract in their quest to escape relegation.

The club escaped relegation following a 3-3 draw against Fremad Amager on Saturday and Kanyenda was not eligible having been shown the red card in the previous game against Svebolle.

B1893 finished the 16-team league on 13th position with 33 points from 30 games.

Said Splidsboel: “Esau was doing fine and overall, he did perform well. I cannot comment about the future yet because we are on holiday and we will start again in mid July.”

However, Kanyenda said he will be offered a new deal.

“The short-term deal went on well and I am likely to extend the contract by a year when we return for pre-season in July,” he said.

Kanyenda returned home last week following the expiry of his contract with the club.

He missed the recent Flames 2014 World Cup and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers due to club commitments.
