Kanyenya was a hit

Dear Editor,

Last week’s recipe for kanyenya was a hit. I am a Malawian woman, but have been raised in different places all over the globe. Because of this, I know how to cook basic Malawian food but not special things like the kanyenya and the like. Unfortunately, my husband loves kanyenya and, therefore, prefers to go and eat those foods elsewhere.

I was, therefore, happy to see this recipe. As soon as I saw it, I tried it to see if I could reproduce the kanyenya. It came out perfectly and my husband loved it. Thank you Every Woman for making me become a better cook.

Grace, Lilongwe.

Good Ed’s letter

Dear Editor,

Last weeks’ Ed’s letter spoke to many women. Those who have tried to abort and those who have thought of abortion. Imagine if indeed Steven Paul Jobs’ parents decided to abort, we wouldn’t be talking of an iphone today.

I want to add on to what you said that pregnant women must think through their decisions before going for an abortion anywhere. Indeed, that child whose life you destroy just might become Malawi’s next president or the inventor of something else big. It’s unfortunate that we do not have adoption services in the country, because there are so many out there who are going to asing’anga to get a baby, or climbing mountains. I am sure they would like to adopt.

Caroline, via email.
