Kaomba and others

I would not make a sudden U-turn and criticise the policies of departed former president Bingu wa Mutharika, whom I supported all along.

If I were Chief Kaomba, I would not stand up now and say that although chiefs supported government policies during the late Mutharika’s reign, there were gaps that needed to be plugged, because my colleagues and I would have raised that issue then.

I would appreciate, if I were Chief Kaomba, that it is hypocrisy at its best to turn around against the past regime now just because we want to win favours from the new State President Joyce Banda.

I would appreciate that the picture we are portraying is that we have been reduced to mere bootlickers other than serving our subjects.

If only I were bwana Chief Kaomba, I would appreciate that as a chief, I am not supposed to tow the government line or any political party because by so doing, I am putting my credibility at risk.

That is if only I were Chief Kaomba. I am fortunate enough not to be him!
