Kaputa: We want ti learn from our neighbours

FAM technical director John Kaputa is on a fact-finding mission on the growth of football standards in some Sadc countries to see what lessons can be learned to improve the game in Malawi.

Kaputa visited Zambian Football Association (FAZ) officials last week and he is planning to travel to Mozambique where most Malawian professional footballers are now plying their trade.

“We need to take a leaf from our friends and research on how they are improving their football standards if we are to get to a higher level as well. For example, Zambia, which was at par with us few years ago, is now a big footballing nation while we have remained stagnant.

“It is through these trips that we can learn some few tricks on how we can develop our status. Otherwise, we will remain a backward nation in soccer standards,” he said.

However, Kaputa said the trips will depend on availability of funds. He, therefore, appealed to well-wishers to help.
