Karonga-based Lusubilo Band starts a one-week national tour this weekend to create partnerships with bands developing music.

According to their itinerary, the band will begin the tour in Balaka where they will perform together with Andiamo Music School and Anthu Ambiri Band.

Thereafter, they will tour Blantyre, Thyolo, Lilongwe and Mzuzu. They are expected to perform with Music Crossroads Band, Komai, Dae Yang Luke, Pamlonga Band and Goma Nyondo. All performances are free.

Karonga Music Centre project manager Manaseh Chisiza said the supporting artists and bands are purposefully chosen because they have an interest in developing music.

“The tour is not for performances only. We are specifically targeting bands that have an interest in developing music so that we mix with them, share ideas and experiences,” he said.

Chisiza said the tour also aims at exposing their band members for people to appreciate what the band is capable of doing.

“Since we are away from cities, people don’t know what we do here. We want them to see and appreciate what we do. We also want to sell our new album,” said Chisiza.

Apart from this tour, Lusubilo is also expected to tour South Korea next year together with the help of Karonga Music Centre founder Professor Chungja Agnes Kim.

Lusubilo Band won the Chibuku Road to Fame Music Competition last year.
