Karonga United head coach Daniel Dzinkambani has withdrawn his resignation from his post at the TNM Super League outfit.

The coach announced his resignation weeks ago after the team’s 1-3 home loss to Ekwendeni Hammers in the ongoing 2020/21 TNM Super League.

Dzinkambani: I had discussion with the club

But Dzinkambani yesterday said he had rescinded his decision following discussions with the club’s management.

He said the club’s management has accepted his contractual demands and he has been assured that supporters will no longer interfere with his job.

“I had a fruitful discussion with the club’s leadership. They were cooperative and they have accepted my contractual demands. This was very important and I am back to work with the players,” he said.

Dzinkambani, who was recruited as Karonga head coach in February 2019, said he initially left the stage following backbiting among some of the club’s officials and supporters.

When contacted for his comment, Karonga United chairperson Matthews Tulombolombo insisted that the club did not receive the resignation letter from Dzinkambani and that he had never been away from the team.

“What I know is that he has been with us all along. There was nothing to do with resignation. He said that to the media and that was not procedural. He might have issues but that oral resignation should not have been taken seriously,” he said.

Karonga United is ninth on the 16-team table with 11 points from nine games. They have won three games, drawn two and lost four.
