Youth for Anti-Corruption Movement chairperson Gwyneth Kaponda has urged government agencies to intensify the fight against corruption.

In a statement issued on Friday, the non-governmental organisation is wooing stakeholders to join the youth to amplify their concerns over alleged looting of public resources.

Kaponda said corruption remains one of the concerns for Malawians.

Kaponda: Stop corruption

She said: “The movement, therefore, is warning those going backdoors disturbing efforts of combating corruption to stop because all of us have a critical role to play in combating corruption.”

Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace of Karonga Diocese desk officer Luis Nkhata justified the youth’s call.

“If you look at the current trend, it seems we have taken corruption as part of our norm whereby every service, be it in government or private sector requires you to palm oil someone for you to get the service,” he said.

In a separate interview on Friday, ACB spokesperson Egrita Ndala assured the youth that her institution will continue to work and deliver on its mandate to fight corruption.

“The bureau is continuing investigations of various allegations of corruption to ensure that they reach their logical conclusions,” she said.

Ndala has since asked the youth to actively participate in the fight against corruption to make Malawi a corruption-free society.
