Former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs: Ralph Kasambara

The police in Lilongwe today morning searched the house of former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara in Area 10, Lilongwe. According to Deputy National Police spokesperson, Kevin Maigwa, police were looking for a car suspected to have been used during the shooting of budget director Paul Mphwiyo.

However, Kasambara says police were not looking for a car but a number plate.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Kasambara’s guard for obstructing the police in their line of duty.

Mphwiyo was shot in the face on September 13 and was airlifted to South Africa where he is still receiving treatment. Last month a team of police investigators were sent to South Africa to question Mphwiyo and to hear his side of the shooting story.

  1. Number plates: If they number is real and registered, why cant the police just check with road traffic on ownership? But, of course, it must be a fake number, in which case it would be foolhardy of the former minister to store the same at home. I am already losing confidence in our crime investigators.

    1. I have to agree with you. Even the limited technology and networking that our Traffic and Police departments have should enable them to track any number quickly.

  2. What is the stand of the churches in Malawi regarding the contemporary issues like cash-gate scandal, shootings? What message are they preaching? Your prophets wake up. You! You! You! what are you doing?

  3. nemesis is catching up with him. but why is Kasambaras life always full of scandals? I remember Bingu hired him as Minister of Justice and AG and he was full of scandals as well until when Bingu fired him. then now kasambara turned against Bingu deceiving people about Bingu. telling people all the lies that Bingu is bad but the truth is that he had a score to settle against Bingu. I remember before Bingu’s death, he had a case before him of kidnapping some people in Blantyre and he spent some time in police cells until he faked illness and when he was out on bail he said his arrest was political. unfortunately and good for him Bingu died and his case died a natural death as well and myopic and visionless Joisi hired him back as minister of justice. but what has happened, big scandals all over again and now I don’t think if Malawians will sympathise with him when our people are dying at KCH due to lack of medicine in hospital because of the cash gate created by him and joisi.
