This follows an incident in which a 26-year-old motorcycle operator identified as Philimon Kamanga of Khumba Village, Senior Chief Kaomba in the district was on Saturday attacked and robbed of his motorcycle by criminals.

The attack comes barely a few days after another motorcycle taxi operator was murdered and his motorcycle stolen at Kaphaizi in the district.

Kasungu Police deputy spokesperson Harry Namwaza said the latest incident occurred while Kamanga was on his way to drop a customer he had picked up at Ntondo Village on the outskirts of Kasungu Municipality.

“The passenger told him to slow down because he was about to negotiate a corner, but when he reduced the speed the passenger pushed him off.

“Later, two other criminals came out of the bush and hit Kamanga with a wooden stick in his face,” said Namwaza.

He said the criminals sped off with the motorcycle. n
