Mzuzu-based boxer Laston Kayira will on Sunday face a Tanzanian boxer Moses Mwamulanda in a 12-round non-title bout at Obrigado Leisure Centre in Mzuzu.

The bout has been organised by Northern Region Professional Boxing Control Board with funding from Ken One Boxing Promotion.

To face Tanzanian: Kayira

The two boxers meet for the first time in this first international fight this year in Mzuzu.

According to BoxRec, the Tanzanian has won 12 bouts and lost 13 from the 25 bouts while Kayira has won a single bout and lost five.

But in an interview yesterday, Kayira said he is now mature and that the Tanzanian will not last longer during their meeting on Sunday.

“I have fought many bouts, but only few were recorded on the BoxRec. I am aware that my opponent is a dangerous boxer, but I am good as well,” he said.

Reacting to Kayira’s outbursts, Mwamulanda, who was speaking through a translator, said Kayira is not his match.

“I am ready to punish him,” he said.

According to the sponsors, the event will also have supporting bouts involving Yahaya Mwayipopa (Tanzanian) against Amos Nkhata, Secret Chirwa against Prince Mhone and Mwayi Kamanga against McDad Thipa.

“It is our hope that boxing fans will enjoy the day,” said Ken One Boxing Promotion owner, Phillip Ngwira. n
