KB chair mum ahead of Friday elections

Kamuzu Barracks (KB) Football Club chairperson Lieutenant Colonel Saiford Kalisha is keeping a low-profile ahead of elections this Friday at their Malawi Defence Force (KB) base in Lilongwe.

“With my work schedule, I do not think I will gun for a position again. This is why I am not campaigning,” said Kalisha.

Asked how he had all along been managing with his MDF schedule, Kalisha insisted: “Anyway, if people vote for me for whatever position, there is nothing I can do. I may oblige.”

The Nation had asked Kalisha on how the club was building up ahead of the new season. Charles Kamanga is the caretaker coach, but Kalisha said the new office-bearers will decide on the coaching panel. Billy Phambala led KB to the Carlsberg Cup glory, but was later pushed aside.

Kalisha’s outgoing executive committee comprises Duncan Taipi as the vice-chairperson and Dickson Mtontholo holding the position of general secretary, among other members.
