Goals from Derek Somanje, Yusufu Nanthaw and Diness Kambewa in a 3-0 win against Ocasor on Saturday ensured that Kamuzu Barracks’ (KB) Super League ambitions are back on track.

KB’s win at Army Headquarters in Lilongwe cut Adams FC lead in the Central Football League Premier Division to a single point.

Adams are on top with 81 points whereas KB are now second with 80 points. But Adams have a game in hand and were playing Airborne Rangers as we went to press.

“As the league progresses, an aggregate will matter a lot and the end. As such, I am happy that we won with a big margin. We have reached a stage where winning every game is a must,” said KB coach Joseph Chilapondwa.

KB chairperson captain Gilbert Mitawa set Super League promotion as the target for Chilapondwa and company.

“Once we get promotion we will never be demoted. For now, all our energy is directed towards promotion and we have made that clear to the technical panel. They are getting every help they need in terms of logistics,” said Mitawa.

However, Adams are adamant that KB will not catch them, and that it is them who will play in the Super League.

“We are on the driving seat and cannot afford to drop points anyhow. We have two top strikers in the league who score in each and every game. That is a bonus and an ace for us,” said the club’s manager and spokesperson Aisha Bunaya in a telephone interview from Dowa.
